Getting Ready for Halloween

With Halloween arriving in several days, you might still be scrambling for last minute ideas on how to decorate your home, or which healthy treats to hand out to the trick-or-treaters.

Decorating for Halloween

There are so many different routes you can take when it comes to decorating your home for Halloween. You can go the playful route with a friendly-faced scarecrow to welcome guests, or create a display of pumpkins greeting the trick-or-treaters. If you prefer to go the scary route, think about creating a gathering of fake spiders along the doorknob, porch, and the front of your house. Even better, hanging bats from your front porch will give an extra spooky vibe at night, especially when the wind is blowing.

Healthy Halloween Treats

Now that decorating is out of the way, it’s time to decide on what treats you’ll hand out this year.

Instead of choosing candy that is solely made of sugar and artificial coloring, opt for treats made with chocolate and nuts, such as Fun Size Peanut M&Ms, as the protein in the peanuts will provide a small boost of energy. Other great chocolate treats to choose are the 3 Musketeers Minis, York Peppermint Patties, and Tootsie Rolls.

3 Musketeers and York Peppermint Patties both offer a lighter, chocolate snack that is low in fat and calories than heavier chocolate treats. Tootsie Rolls, on the other hand, offers a chewy chocolate fix in moderation, but be careful, because at 50 calories each, the calories can add up quickly! And for those who want to add non-chocolate treats to their bowls, Charms Blow Pops and Jolly Ranchers are a great way to keep your mouth busy and away from higher calorie foods!
Getting Chocolate Stains Out

Chevron – The Bold Pattern

Chevron is no longer just a fashion statement, as the inverted V-shaped pattern is now becoming a popular décor style in your home. Chevron, which creates a zigzag pattern, is a versatile style that is being used in all elements of design.

Painted neutral chevron walls create subtle interest, and is best on an accent wall. It gives the room personality, while still not being an overwelming presence.

Chevron flooring is another great way to bring the pattern into your home. If you want to go bold, painting the pattern on your floor is a unique way to make a statement.

If you’re not ready to take such a big risk, a chevron carpet can really ground a room and pull it together. A rug makes it very easy if you decide you want to move the room around, or bring the rug into a new room later down the road.

If you love the pattern but aren’t ready to take the bold step, bring chevron into your rooms with accent pieces. Chevron pillows add unexpected character to a room, and even though it’s only an accent pillow, it still makes a strong impact in the room.
